Are you ready to reclaim your brain? It is not "normal" to experience brain fatigue and brain fog. It is not ok to just say that memory loss is a "normal part of aging." IT MIGHT BE COMMON, BUT IT IS NOT NORMAL!
Most people want to feel healthy and be well. The current conventional medicine system has a very different idea for what it means to be well. I'm not interested in labeling a diagnosis and then just achieving symptom control with medication. Optimal wellness is my goal, especially when it comes to brain health.
If you have been told that brain fog and memory loss are just a part of aging, but you don't want to accept that- then you are in the right place.
In today's conventional medicine climate, physicians are forced to quickly move from one treatment room to the next, focusing on symptoms, defining disease, and treating their patients. There is very little training in medical school for how to truly help a patient to move beyond their disease and actually BE WELL. It is a broken system.
When it comes to memory loss, there is very little that is offered in the conventional medicine system. It can feel hopeless!
What does it look like to truly be well? There are several populations in the world that have low disease prevalence and live well into their nineties- with virtually no memory loss or dementia.
These populations are found in the Blue Zones. Researchers credit their remarkable health and wellness to their lifestyles: They eat diets consisting of mostly vegetables, fruits, nuts, healthy fats, and proteins, and they often eat with family. Many families grow their own gardens and raise their food for themselves and their community. Their communities are important to them—families are tight-knit and homes are multi-generational. Many are spiritual, practice stress management activities, and live in safe and healthy environments.
These populations have unlocked the secret to well-being.
Having a healthy brain requires making sure our physiologic resilience is up to par. This means both our body and mind have all the right components to do the needed job. The metabolic reserves are present.
If your body begins to run out of reserves, your resilience begins to suffer. For example, if you do not have components to make specific enzymes, you will not be able to digest the proteins that you are consuming, which means the building blocks you need will not be available for growth and repair. If your body is overly focused on stress, it is using up metabolic reserve that may be needed somewhere else. YOUR BRAIN WILL SUFFER.
